Škoda Transtech

The Finnish company Škoda Transtech was founded in 1985. In 2015, Transtech became a member of the Škoda Transportation Group.

Today Škoda Transtech is the leading Northern European rolling stock manufacturer of low-floor trams and double-deck coaches as well as an important contract manufacturer of demanding engineering workshop products.
Škoda Transtech’s headquarter is located in Oulu and the production site in Otanmäki, the Region of Kainuu, Northern Finland. The company’s sales office and maintenance services are located in Helsinki and Tampere. Škoda Transtech is currently supplying trams to the Finnish metropolis of Helsinki and the city of Tampere. Škoda Transtech also participates in supplying modern trams for the German transport company Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr (rnv). In 2018, Škoda Transtech sold two Helsinki prototype tramcars to German Schöneiche and an entirely new vehicle in 2019.
Škoda Transtech supports the activities of the Kajaanin Hokki hockey team.

  • Juha Vierros

    CEO Škoda Transtech

    Juha Vierros, President for Region North, has been the CEO of Škoda Transtech since 2019. He has extensive experience in the manufacturing industry. Before joining Škoda Transtech, he was in China setting up and starting production for Kingnor Mining Equipment Co. Ltd., a joint venture company formed by Normet Group and JCHX Mining Management Co. Ltd. He also worked at Junttan Oy for nine years in various management positions. Previously, Mr Vierros has worked in the telecommunications industry in Hungary and Finland and a hand tools company in Portugal. He holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering.
