Artic Jokeri Line

ForCity Smart Artic X54 tramcars are 100% low-floor trams with fully pivoting bogies in a multi-articulated structure
ForCity Smart Artic X54 is a groundbreaking innovation that redefines comfort and passenger experience in the light rail industry. What sets this tram apart is its innovative integration of fully pivoting bogies and a multi-articulated structure, creating an unprecedented combination that offers passengers the best of both worlds. The symmetrical car-body control system (SCCS) placed on the tram's roof ensures seamless coordination of car-body sections, resulting in a consistently defined position—a true marvel of engineering.
The tram's remarkable features include spacious and comfortable passenger environments, with up to 40% more flat floor space than traditional bogie trams. The multi-articulated design introduces a supported center module featuring a state-of-the-art pivot-kneeling system, enabling threshold-free boarding for passengers with limited mobility—fostering inclusivity and accessibility for all.
Towards the end of 2016 Škoda committed to supplying 29 tramcars for the upcoming line no. 15 (Jokeri line), linking the Finnish cities of Helsinki and Espoo. This new 25 km route with 34 stops is set to replace the current bustling bus line. Building on this success, in 2021, Helsinki City Transport expanded their fleet by exercising the option for an additional 23 light rail vehicles. These new trams are designated for a forthcoming 10 km line that spans the Crown Bridges—three significant bridges connecting Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Helsinki City Centre.“
