Safety training: how to behave in the presence of an active shooter

At Škoda Group, we organize various training and educational activities to ensure our employees are ready and resilient. Right now, we are equipping our team to handle emergencies and dangerous situations confidently. Guided by our Group Security Director, Pavel Kovanda, we have rolled out an impactful training series titled "Managing Emergencies and Crisis Situations."

These include a variety of threatening scenarios, from managing encounters with aggressive individuals and identifying suspicious devices to proceeding upon discovery of an explosive booby trap system. A critical component of the training addresses how to react in the event of an active shooter:

Run: Escape quickly and safely. The primary objective is to leave the attack area and find shelter away from the shooter’s reach. Avoid open spaces and seek covered or protected areas.

✅ Hide: If escape is impossible, find a safe hiding spot. Conceal yourself behind solid obstacles that can protect you from gunfire. Stay calm and minimize movement to avoid drawing the attacker’s attention.

✅ Fight: When you are near the attacker and cannot escape or hide, prepare to defend yourself. Use all available means of self-defense and fight if necessary for your safety.

Driven by optimism but grounded in preparedness, we minimize risks and enhance our capacity to navigate crises. Being prepared means always being on guard!
