Hybrid electric units

The new trains are based on the well-known Panter platform, which is highly adaptable and operates in various versions across most of the Czech Republic. Specifically, they are derived from the battery version, complemented by a diesel power pack used for continuous battery recharging. Vehicle traction is thus normally provided either by electricity from the overhead line or from the batteries. This reduces the use of fossil fuels and maximizes operational efficiency. The deployment of these units will reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 19,000 tons per year.

KEY FEATURES
Hybrid electric units

The diesel power pack serves solely as an auxiliary unit, enabling extended range through continuous battery charging. The modern two-car and three-car train units thus represent the best available solution for lines that are not yet fully electrified but still require long-distance travel on non-electrified sections—up to several hundred kilometers. By retaining the option to convert to fully battery-powered or electric units, these modern trains pave the way for a zero-emission railway future.

  • Unique power supply system

  • Environmentally friendly solution
