At the start of the negotiations, it was estimated that the reduction in work could affect up to 200 employees. In addition, other planned measures relating to a total of 452 employees were covered by the negotiations. It was noted that these estimates would be refined as the negotiations progressed.
During the negotiations, several alternatives for impacts on personnel were examined. Among other measures, the company assessed the possibility of transferring employees to open positions, reorganizing tasks, and utilizing temporary layoffs and other operational solutions to mitigate the need for workforce reductions.
Following the conclusion of the negotiations, the company has decided to implement workforce reductions affecting a total of 117 employees. In addition, the company may, if necessary, implement targeted layoffs and other measures discussed in the negotiations.
The company will hold individual discussions with all employees who were covered by the change negotiations. Employees affected by the decisions will be offered the services provided under Finland’s statutory employment security framework, as well as the necessary support during the transition.
“This is a difficult decision for both the company and its employees. We would like to thank our personnel for their constructive participation throughout the negotiation process. Our focus now is on supporting our employees through the transition while ensuring the sustainability of the company’s operations and its competitiveness,” says Juha Vierros, CEO of Škoda Transtech Oy.
