History of Poll

The history of POLL, s.r.o. dates back to the early 1990s.
The history of POLL, s.r.o. dates back to the early 1990s, when a small group of assistants and students engaged in development at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU in Prague, in cooperation with industrial companies at the time (ČKD Elektrotechnika, ČKD Trakce, OEZ Letohrad,…).
Their activities gradually became independent, and their development work was taken over by a new company. The first projects that were implemented include:
- the development of an asynchronous tram drive controller (ČKD Dopravní systémy, 1996-1999)
- the development and delivery of a complete traction drive control for a diesel-electric shunting locomotive (ČKD Dopravní systémy, 1998-1999)
- the development, production and deployment of the LONWorks distributed control system for traffic sign control (Eltodo, 1999-2000)
- the development and production of customer systems of electronic circuit breakers of the BLxx Modeion series (OEZ Letohrad, 2001-2006)
- the development, production and deployment of equipment with a pulse rectifier with IGCT thyristors – modernisation of suburban units of the 560 series (in cooperation with POLOVODIČE a.s., 2002)
POLL, s.r.o. has thus been on the market since 1996; from its initial 4 employees, it has grown into a medium-sized company and expanded its range of activities from its initial activity (development of technical and software resources) to the production and service of control systems and power electronics for (not only) railway applications.
