With the arrival of new technology, new opportunities are opening up in the design and development of vehicles for public transport. The overall design and performance of vehicles will increasingly be influenced by factors that are not yet as obvious to today's passengers.
Virtual reality and 3D printing
Modern technologies are already having a significant impact on the design of public transport vehicles. The use of 3D printers gives a better idea of the suitability of proposed design solutions. Virtual reality allows design proposals to be verified at a scale of 1:1. There is no doubt that these technologies will increasingly enter into the design process, for example, when communicating with clients who will be able to walk through their vehicle before it is manufactured.
Autonomous cars
The shift towards autonomous vehicles is more often seen in the context of cars, but the same trend is also affecting public transport. In a couple of years, front cabs may be a thing of the past and we will be driving trams and trains in a completely different way.
