Škoda Vagonka

Škoda Vagonka is a direct continuation of the tradition of manufacturing passenger rail vehicles with a product range focused on electric units for suburban transport, motor units, light regional vehicles and passenger trailers. The company also provides complete vehicle service, repairs and modernisation and, last but not least, spare parts.

The company will continue to focus on maintaining and strengthening its core competencies in view of its future plans and maintaining its market position, particularly in the area of rail vehicle development, so as to strengthen innovation capabilities and achieve a broader product portfolio.
Considerable attention is also paid to the purchase of subcontracting services and materials. Škoda Vagonka promotes the principles of cooperation based on the quality of deliveries and respect for customer requirements. The company’s management also considers other areas – production technology, investments, information technology, personnel policy and testing – to be very important for the overall development of the company.
Since 2005, Škoda Vagonka has been part of the Škoda group.

  • Martin Bednarz

    Executive Director Škoda Vagonka and Škoda Ekova

    He was born in 1975; he graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Technical University of Ostrava.
    He has held managerial positions in a number of major engineering companies, including the European group GCE and the Czech Armaments Factory in Uherský Brod. He managed the Tatra car company for two years. Prior to joining Škoda Group, where he had also previously worked, Bednarz was the CEO of Vítkovice Heavy Machinery from the Vítkovice Machinery Group. He has been the director of Škoda Ostrava since 2018.

History

The beginning of rail vehicle production in Vagonka dates back to the early 20th century. At the time, entrepreneur Adolf Schustala established the joint-stock company “Staudinger Waggonfabrik A.G.” based in Butovice near Studénka.
